Remote Contract Paralegal

REMOTE (Must be Morgantown, WV based) | 6-12 WEEK CONTRACT | FULL-TIME

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Paralegal/Legal Assistant for a 6-12 week contract opportunity that is fully remote . This position will provide legal and administrative support with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, including locating and organizing records, preparing responses, protecting confidential information, and tracking deadlines.

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
Fully remote (must be Morgantown, WV based)
6-12 week contract starting in November 2026

Responsibilities

Search for and collect documents responsive to FOIA requests.
Communicate with internal and external contacts to locate requested information.
Organize and compile information for requests and responses.
Review documents and redact confidential or personally identifiable information using Adobe Pro.
Draft correspondence and responses for review.
Review, analyze, and organize collected records.
Track requests and deadlines to ensure timely completion.
Maintain case files and records.
Prepare weekly status reports and updates.
Provide general administrative and organizational support as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field such as Criminal Justice, Criminal Law, Political Science, or Intellectual Property.
5+ years of administrative, technical, customer service, or office experience.
Strong Microsoft Office skills.
Experience with Adobe Pro; FOIA/case management software is a plus.
Excellent grammar, proofreading, and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
Ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
Able to work independently and prioritize multiple deadlines.
Professional communication skills and ability to interact with individuals at various levels.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
